This is how we welcome our guests to the Styrian Vulkanland in every season. The Sonnenhaus is a simple place surrounded by greenery, nestled among the gentle hills between Riegersburg and Feldbach. Here, living close to nature, personal encounters and a more sustainable way of travelling come together in a private and peaceful setting.

Today, the Sonnenhaus is recognised with both the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel. This recognition grew from a conviction that has guided us for many years: to preserve what is valuable, to make thoughtful use of what already exists, and to treat nature, our surroundings and future generations with respect. Rather than building anew, we carefully revitalised the former farmhouse, much of the work done by our own hands. Step by step, the holiday apartments and rooms in the countryside took shape.

There is much to discover around the farmhouse. Hiking and cycling trails lead directly from the house through orchards, vineyards and woodland. The Vulcano Ham Factory, Krenn49 organic winery and Zotter Chocolate Theatre are just a short walk or a few minutes by car away. The area is also known for its small producers and its rich culinary traditions.

We feel deeply connected to the place where we live and work and are involved in regional development in many different ways. We enjoy sharing this connection with our guests, exchanging ideas and offering personal recommendations. We feel that it is this exchange that makes the Sonnenhaus feel like a place of its own – welcoming, familiar and open to new encounters.
